On 31 May 2026, Deciso String Orchestra (DSO) participated in a Pocket Show as part of the Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur (FOKL) 2026, organised by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). The performance took place at the DBKL Lobby prior to the Malaysia–Thailand Friendship Orchestra concert, offering festival visitors an opportunity to enjoy a diverse programme of orchestral music before the main event.
About Deciso String Orchestra
Deciso String Orchestra (DSO) was founded by Mr. Tan Chin Seng in 2016, with further artistic guidance from Mr. Norman Ong Say Seong. Under his direction, the ensemble has grown from 6 members to nearly 40. DSO is set to provide professional leadership and inspiration to young talented musicians, enabling them to expand their musical journey and gain valuable experience through more programs and performances. From mini recitals to concerts and collaborations with external parties, DSO seeks to inspire through interesting performance programs to groom and cultivate a love for music among the young musicians.
As part of the festival programme, DSO presented a 30-minute Pocket Show featuring six works spanning a variety of musical styles and genres. The repertoire included selections from Gustav Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite, the popular Mandopop classic Ju Hua Tai, the energetic Lord of the Dance, beloved film music from Laputa (Castle in the Sky) and Frozen, as well as highlights from The Sound of Music.
The performance brought together musicians of different ages and backgrounds, including young students, adult amateur and professional musicians. Beyond developing their instrumental skills, the event provided a valuable opportunity for participants to share their passion for music with the wider community. The warm applause and enthusiastic support from the audience served as a meaningful encouragement to every performer on stage.
