Inspiring Young Musicians Take the Stage at Deciso This August

From Fiddler to Poet

On 9 August 2026, violinist Zi Yang Low, together with pianist Dr. Elaine Yap, will present From Fiddler to Poet, a recital of early 20th-century violin music at Deciso Fine Violins.

Born in Malaysia, Zi Yang has developed a musical identity rooted in both solo and chamber music. He began studying the violin at the age of four, following early piano training, and later studied with Ming Goh and Małgorzata Potocka in Malaysia. A Kohl Scholar at the Colburn Music Academy, he completed his undergraduate studies with Martin Beaver at the Colburn Conservatory. He performs on a Francesco Ruggieri violin, generously loaned by the Rin Collection in Singapore.

Since 2026, Zi Yang has been an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the artistic direction of Augustin Dumay.

The programme features works by George Enescu, Eugène Ysaÿe, and Sergei Prokofiev, offering audiences an opportunity to explore the rich violin repertoire of the early 20th century. Spanning folk-inspired character, virtuosic brilliance, and lyrical expression, the recital highlights the remarkable diversity of the violin’s musical voice.

Lit Ming Farewell Recital

As he prepares to begin the next chapter of his musical journey in Europe, young Malaysian cellist Lit Ming presents a special farewell recital, joined by pianist Au Yong Hui Hui.

The afternoon programme will take audiences on a musical journey through three contrasting masterpieces: Beethoven’s expressive Cello Sonatas, Schumann’s lyrical Three Romances, and Piazzolla‘s passionate Le Grand Tango. Together, these works highlight the cello’s remarkable ability to convey both intimacy and brilliance across different musical eras.

More than a performance, this recital celebrates Lit Ming’s dedication, artistic growth, and achievements as a young musician. It is a meaningful opportunity for audiences to reflect on his journey so far and wish him every success as he embarks on this exciting new chapter.
